About Inkwell

Inkwell is a home for long-form writing. Authors publish articles with rich formatting, images, media and attachments — and readers explore them freely.

Every story can wear a different look: six layout templates from classic centered blogs to full-width magazines, plus configurable background colors and gradients chosen by the author.

Authors can keep a story private behind an access token of their own choosing, curate the conversation through a comment approval queue, and let readers react with a standard set of reactions.

Reading layouts

In addition to the standard horizontal layout, Inkwell supports vertical CJK reading — text written top to bottom in columns that flow from right to left, the classic 縦読み layout. Switch it on per article with the layout toggle, or make it your default in your appearance settings.

Inkwell runs on Laravel 13, Livewire 4 and MariaDB.
